We have a few customers in California. We recently received a letter saying that we have to start charging sales tax on tooling we sell to California companies. Does anyone else have experience with this? We have never had to charge sales tax before on tooling. How much of a process is it?

INCOE currently file CA sales tax monthly. California is a bit more involved than most states. I would recommend you go to the following website.
https://www.cdtfa.ca.gov/taxes-and-fees/sutprograms.htm
This will give him some information on what he needs to do and how to file.
