In the world of just-in-time delivery, United Tool and Mold's (UTM) main focus is on keeping its customers' presses running and preventing lines from going down. Through capacity, efficiency, flexibility and a "Rhino Charge" attitude, UTM handles 2500+ emergency, engineering changes and general repairs each year.
As the industry-leading repair service for plastic injection and blow molds, United Tool and Mold services its customers from two facilities: one in Rainbow City, AL, and a new, 60,000 sq. ft. facility in Liberty, SC. From engineering, CNC machining, laser engraving, welding and hot runner services to logistics, customized job tracking and inspection, UTM's new facility is optimized for efficient workflow. With three new spotting presses, 14 overhead cranes and a "drive-through" concept that allows two 40-foot tractor trailers to load and unload simultaneously, UTM's response time is unmatched.
With an emphasis on continuous improvement, the UTM plant tour will highlight several new installations, including a large-capacity 5-axis CNC machine and fluidized bed, laser welders and laser engravers, spotting presses and a specially designed mobile app that increases communication between UTM and its customers. Attendees also will explore new advancements in reverse engineering capabilities and quality validation.
Plant tour workshop includes lunch, best-practice discussion and networking dinner at FireForge Brewery the evening of Oct. 23rd.
