Management Fundamentals for Emerging Leadership (Session 2)

This summer, the AMBA Emerging Leaders Network is inviting 40-and-under emerging leaders (and/or those in emerging leadership roles) to a four-part, virtually guided series on management fundamentals.

Attendees will participate in three coaching sessions with Kelly McDaniel, president at DeLisaGroup and 360 Recruiting, who will guide attendees on how to utilize a variety of tools and assessments to better understand, develop and implement their supervisory leadership style, communication strategies and employee empowerment methods. 

AMBA also will facilitate a fourth peer-driven roundtable discussion session, where attendees will share challenges and discuss best practices related to past experiences in supervised and/or supervisory roles.

Series Schedule

Session I: Effective Supervisory Styles - Motivating Others
8/30, 12-1pm EST

Participants will use a variety of tools and assessments to help them achieve awareness and understanding of their supervisory style, strengths and the areas in need of further development. The aspects that guide both excellent and poor leadership will be shared, as well as the styles and techniques that can motivate top performance.
 
Session II: Supervisory Communication
9/6, 12-1pm EST

Attendees will review the different types of communication employees need to be successful in the workplace. Strategies will be shared on how to be an active listener, give and receive feedback and make and convey decisions. 

*Session III: Leadership Experiences – Peer Networking 
9/13, 12-1pm EST

Series participants will reflect on the practical application of skills learned thus far in the series. Alongside peers, they will discuss the challenges and best practices that will enable the continued application of employee management and communication strategies in their individual facilities.

Session IV:  Managing Others for Accountability 
9/20, 12-1pm EST

Those participating will learn how to coach high-potential employees for improvement, as well as how to identify and counsel underperformers so that they can meet performance expectations.
